AAP protests near Delhi Secretariat, seeks probe into alleged bicycle scam

The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday, August 31, staged a protest near the Delhi Secretariat, demanding a probe by the Delhi government into an alleged bicycle scam.

AAP Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj led the demonstration, with party workers raising slogans and demanding action from Chief Minister Rekha Gupta over the issue.

Bharadwaj alleged that the Delhi government was purchasing bicycles at inflated prices despite their poor quality.

"The chief minister is completely silent on the matter. Government is buying bicycles worth Rs 6,957 on wholesale, we bought it on retail rate of Rs 4,200, and the bicycles that they are buying are not good. The brakes are fake, tyres are fake, rims are fake, pedals are fake," he told PTI Videos.

He alleged that no inquiry had been ordered and no FIR had been registered in connection with the matter.

"Either the chief minister is weak and incompetent, which is why she is not asking any questions of Minister Ashish Sood. No inquiry is happening and no FIR has been registered in the matter," Bharadwaj said.

The AAP had earlier staged a protest outside the residence of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, demanding action from him over the alleged scam.
