80 Days, No Arrest: Woman Seeks Non-Bailable Warrant, Interpol Notice Against Accused

Over 80 days after an FIR was registered for alleged sexual assault at Juhu Chowpatty, the complainant has written to the police alleging that the accused has not been questioned or arrested.

In a letter dated July 14 to the police, the complainant expressed distress over the pace of the investigation.

“I am struggling to cope with the feeling that the man who committed this heinous act against me is still free and has not even been questioned,” she wrote. “I cannot stop thinking about the fact that the person who did this to me continues to live his life without having to answer a single question from the authorities, while I am left reliving that night again and again.”

Despite repeated attempts by Mumbai Mirror, Santacruz Police declined to comment for this report.

The Alleged Incident

According to the FIR, the incident dates back to the night of April 6, 2025. The woman met the accused, identified as Amir P Mehta, after a close friend introduced them. She was told Amir Mehta was a senior executive who had arrived from Geneva and could provide information about investments.

The woman and her friend met Mehta at the JW Marriott in Santacruz at around 9:30 pm. The friend had reportedly known Mehta for around three years. The three then went to a restaurant in Juhu for dinner.

After dinner, Mehta allegedly told the woman he wanted to speak with her privately. The two first dropped her friend at her home in Bandra by car. Mehta then suggested going for a walk at Juhu Chowpatty. She accompanied him to the sandy area behind the hotel.

As per her statement, at around midnight on April 6-7, they were walking along the beach discussing investments and work. At around 12:30 am on April 7, Mehta allegedly asked her to walk into the sea. She said she trusted him and accompanied him into the water, where he allegedly pulled her towards him, forcibly kissed and touched her and sexually assaulted her despite resistance.

The woman said she pushed him away and ran from the spot, leaving her friend’s car behind and returning home by autorickshaw.

Delayed Complaint

The woman said she was frightened and traumatised and did not immediately approach the police, fearing it could affect her reputation and career. She also did not initially tell her friend about the incident.

Her detailed statement was finally recorded on April 27, 2026. Police registered offences under Sections 64(1), 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and assigned the investigation to Sub-Inspector Sharad Shahaji Landge.

The complainant has alleged that after the FIR, Mehta started deleting his traces and details from social media platforms.

Lookout Notice and Court Plea

In her application before the court, the woman has sought an open-dated non-bailable warrant against Mehta and has requested directions to Mumbai Police to approach Interpol through the CBI for a Red Corner Notice.

She has also sought Blue Corner Notices concerning Mehta’s wife and two sons to help obtain information that could assist in tracing him.

According to the application, Mehta is a British national presently living in Switzerland. The woman has claimed that an all-India Look Out Circular (LOC) has been issued against him.

The matter is pending before the court.
