7,500 kg suspected adulterated paneer seized in Haryana’s Nuh

Gurugram, September 12: Authorities seized about 7,500 kg of allegedly adulterated paneer during raids on four dairies in Haryana’s Nuh district, officials said on Saturday.

A joint team conducted the raids on Thursday night at Yusuf Dairy, Khalid-Israel Dairy, Pandit Dairy and Saddam Dairy. The team included food safety, revenue, police and pollution control officials.

Officials inspected the paneer and ingredients after receiving information about possible adulteration. Details of the suspected adulterants and laboratory results were not available in the reports reviewed.

The action followed a one-year government ban on paneer production in Nuh issued last month. Officials said more than three dozen units were continuing production despite the order.

Paneer produced by some dairies in Punhana was allegedly supplied to Delhi, Faridabad, Gurugram, Noida and Mathura. Several other dairy operators temporarily closed their units after the raids, according to the reports.

The administration has not yet disclosed whether charges were registered against the four dairies. It has also not announced when laboratory findings on the seized paneer will be released.
