72nd National Film Awards winners to be announced today at 5:30pm after two-week delay

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will announce the winners of the 72nd National Film Awards on Saturday at 5:30 pm at the National Media Centre in New Delhi. The announcement, which was originally expected earlier this month, was delayed by nearly two weeks as the jury completed its evaluation process. The event will be streamed live on PIB India's official YouTube channel.

The awards will honour films certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) between January 1 and December 31, 2024. An 11-member jury, chaired by acclaimed filmmaker Jayaraj, reviewed entries from across the country before finalising its recommendations.

Several critically acclaimed films and performances are expected to compete for the top honours, making this year's announcement one of the most anticipated in recent years.

The National Film Awards are India's highest official recognition for excellence in cinema, celebrating achievements across feature films, non-feature films and technical categories. The complete list of winners will be released immediately after the official announcement by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
