27 ballot boxes recovered from Dalit hamlet in Bihar's Madhubani

Bihar Police on Thursday, August 27 recovered 27 ballot boxes from different locations in a Dalit hamlet in Madhubani district's Madhepur block, officials said.
Madhepur SHO Vishwajeet said the recovery was made after the office of the Block Development Officer provided information about the alleged theft of the ballot boxes.
"Based on information of theft provided by the office of the Block Development Officer, we launched a search operation and recovered the ballot boxes from different places in the hamlet," he said.
However, the Madhubani deputy election officer told PTI that he was not aware of the alleged theft or the recovery.
Police have not yet registered an FIR in connection with the matter, and further investigation is underway, the SHO said.
It was not immediately clear which election the ballot boxes had been used for or whether they were intended for use in a future election.
