19 TMC MPs including Yusuf Pathan, Saayoni Ghosh and Shatrughan Sinha back Rebel Camp amid party crisis

The political crisis within the All India Trinamool Congress deepened as 19 Members of Parliament reportedly joined the rebel camp, raising the possibility of a major split within the party.
According to sources, the dissident group includes several prominent TMC leaders and MPs such as Yusuf Pathan, Saayoni Ghosh and Shatrughan Sinha.
The other MPs reportedly backing the rebel faction include Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Jagadish Chandra Basunia, Khalilur Rahaman, Abu Taher Khan, Partha Bhowmick, Bapi Haldar, Mala Roy, Mitali Bag, Deepak Adhikari, Kalipada Soren, June Maliah, Arup Chakraborty, Sharmila Sarkar, Asit Kumar Mal, Satabdi Roy and Rachana Banerjee.
Sources said the rebel MPs are unlikely to resign from the TMC immediately or formally join the NDA. Instead, they are considering functioning as a separate parliamentary bloc while extending support to the ruling alliance, a move aimed at avoiding disqualification under anti-defection provisions.
The development comes amid growing unrest within the party following recent political setbacks in West Bengal and an ongoing leadership tussle. The rebellion has intensified concerns about a vertical split in the party's parliamentary ranks.
According to sources, the dissident MPs are preparing to submit a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressing support for the NDA. The group is reportedly being led by TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, who has claimed that a significant section of the party's parliamentary strength is backing the move.
The Trinamool Congress currently has 28 MPs in the Lok Sabha. Sources suggest the latest rebellion could significantly alter the party's internal power dynamics and its role within the opposition bloc.
No official statement has yet been issued by party chief Mamata Banerjee regarding the reported support extended by the MPs to the rebel faction.
The political situation remains fluid, with further developments expected in the coming days.
