SC agrees to hear Odisha govt plea challenging release of animated film 'Mahaprabhu Jagannath'

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear a plea tomorrow by the Odisha government challenging the release of animated film 'Mahaprabhu Jagannath' after it received screening clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The Odisha government has contended that the film's release could lead to a law and order situation in the state.
Earlier, a bench of Justices BV Nagarathna and R Mahadevan permitted the all-India release of the film on or after July 28, following the Lord Jagannath Yatra festivities.
The plea was mentioned on Monday before a bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and comprising Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, which agreed to hear the matter on Tuesday.
