Safety of doctors who protect others is crucial: Kiran Bedi
In recent years, doctors have increasingly faced situations involving violence, threats, and harassment. This initiative was launched by Dr Kiran Bedi (IPS), former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, who attended a special event at the India International Centre as the chief guest.
Dr Kiran Bedi stated, “The legal and social protection of doctors — who safeguard the lives of others — is crucial; ‘Ozone Pharmaceuticals’ stepping forward for this cause is a commendable initiative.”
In light of the rising violence, threats, harassment, and baseless legal cases against doctors, Ozone Pharmaceuticals has launched ‘Ozone Shield’. Speaking on the need for Subash Sehgal, Founder and Managing Director, said, “It is our responsibility to stand by doctors when they face violence or unwarranted legal complications.”
Recent data also highlights concerns regarding the safety of doctors. A nationwide survey conducted this year by experts from AIIMS, Safdarjung Hospital, and VMMC among more than 1,500 healthcare workers revealed that 78.4 per cent had received threats while on duty, while 58.2 percent stated they did not feel safe at their workplace.
