Row over girl's shorts sparks brawl at Pune's Sinhagad fort; 8 booked

Police have booked eight members of a right-wing outfit for allegedly assaulting a man after an altercation at Pune's popular Sinhagad fort, sparked by the group objecting to his friend's young daughter wearing shorts.
The incident took place on Monday, Aug 17th near the samadhi of Tanaji Malusare, the legendary military commander and trusted aide of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, police said.
"A group of members of the right-wing outfit objected to the girl wearing shorts on the fort, which led to a heated argument with the complainant. The argument escalated and the complainant was allegedly assaulted," said Inspector Rajesh Ramaghare of Haveli police station.
The group also allegedly misbehaved with another couple in an attempt at moral policing, he said.
The complainant later approached police, leading to an FIR against eight members of the outfit, he added.
