RJD MP Manoj Jha urges PM Modi to stop demolition of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University buildings

Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the Centre to intervene and halt the proposed demolition of 38 buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. In his letter, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader described the planned action as a serious threat to higher education and appealed for steps to protect the interests of thousands of students studying at the institution.

Jha argued that any dispute over building approvals or land use should be resolved through due legal process rather than demolition that could disrupt academic activities. He requested the Prime Minister to ensure that education remains the priority and that students are not made to suffer because of ongoing legal and administrative issues.

The controversy began after the Rampur Development Authority ordered the demolition of 38 out of 40 buildings at the university, stating that the structures were constructed without approved building plans. The move has sparked political reactions, with several opposition leaders alleging political vendetta, while authorities maintain that the action is based solely on violations of building regulations.
