Telangana CM urges US Ambassador to simplify H-1B visa processing, stamping procedures
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Wednesday and asked him to simplify the processing, renewal and stamping procedures for H-1B visas to help reduce delays faced by applicants.
During the half-hour meeting, Reddy also sought an increase in the number of visas granted to students from Telangana pursuing higher education in the US, and requested support in ensuring timely visa appointments. He asked for more visa interview slots, faster processing of applications, and advance notice from the US side on any changes to visa rules.
The chief minister also flagged concerns faced by Telangana-origin professionals working across various sectors in the US, according to an official statement. The safety and welfare of students from the state currently studying in America also came up during the discussion.
On the investment front, Reddy pitched Telangana as a potential partner for US companies in IT, artificial intelligence, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, startups, research and other emerging technology sectors. He asked the ambassador to help facilitate partnerships between American universities and educational institutions in Telangana, and pressed for expanding student exchange, research, innovation and skill-development programmes between the two sides.
The chief minister said cooperation needed to be strengthened further across education, employment, investment, technology and research. In response, the ambassador assured full cooperation in deepening trade, investment, cultural exchange and people-to-people ties between Telangana and the United States.
