Ram temple’s new CEO gets first briefing
On Thursday, Air Marshal (Retd) Jeetendra Mishra, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ram temple trust, attended his first meeting in Ayodhya with the trust’s members and office-bearers. He received an overview of how the trust works, including its accounting and administrative setup.
The meeting took place at the trust’s Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Kshetra office in Ramghat. "This was an introductory meeting at which I met some of the other members of the trust, and I shall need a few more days to get a clear understanding of my role and duties," Mishra said after the meeting.
The sources stated that although Mishra has been appointed CEO, he has not yet officially assumed the post and is expected to do so in the next few days.
Govind Dev Giri, the trust’s General Secretary, stated that the trust members held a formal meeting with the new CEO and that standard operating procedures for the CEO, outlining his duties and responsibilities, will be drawn up in the coming days.
Sources added that Mishra attended another meeting in the evening on the trust’s accounts, together with Giri, Krishna Mohan and some other members of the trust at the Ram temple. He was given a briefing on various aspects of the way the trust operates, including its administrative and financial arrangements.
The 62-year-old former Air Marshal, who at the time commanded the Western Air Command during Operation Sindoor, arrived in Ayodhya by air from Delhi on Thursday morning and went to the Ram temple to offer prayers.
Mishra expressed his thanks to the selection committee and attributed his appointment to the blessings of Lord Ram. The CEO’s appointment comes as part of the trust’s efforts to overhaul the administration’s functioning following the controversy over alleged embezzlement of temple donations, which led to the arrest of eight people.
On Wednesday, the trust named Giri as general secretary, appointed Mahesh Bhagchandka as treasurer, and elected new trustees, including Madan Mohan Pandey and Nirmala Yadav.
The restructuring aims to enhance the trust’s administrative and financial operations in view of the expanding responsibilities associated with the Ram temple.
