Ram Mandir opponents giving sermons is laughable: CM Yogi
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday, hinting at the Samajwadi Party, said it is laughable that those who went to court against Ram Mandir’s construction are now giving sermons on faith. Adityanath made the remark after he inaugurated or laid the foundation of 14 development projects worth over Rs 995 crore for his constituency, Gorakhpur Urban.
“Before 2017, riots were normal, anarchy was at its peak. Just recall how riots would break out during Holi, Vijayadashami, Durga Puja, and Ram Navami. They would not allow Janmashtami celebrations or the Kanwar Yatra to take place. “In short, those who used to attack matters of faith back then have now taken it upon themselves to pose as the greatest champions of that very faith,” the BJP leader said.
“Those who created obstacles in the path of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple’s construction, who fired upon devotees of Lord Ram during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, who deployed their lawyers in the Supreme Court to oppose the temple, those very people are speaking about faith today,” he added. Adityanath said that the same people who used to play with faith and the future of the youth are now delivering grand speeches. “Their sermons seem laughable.”
The chief minister said that ten years ago, before he came to power in the state, people used to be afraid of coming to Gorakhpur because of the mafia and mosquitoes.
“Where there are mosquitoes, there is malaria, dengue, encephalitis; and because of the mafia, no one would even buy property here. Today, however, buying land and building a house in Gorakhpur is everyone’s top choice,” he said.
Adityanath claimed that no one was willing to invest in the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority till he took over the reins of the state and the constituency.
He also blamed the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and the Congress Governments for the closure of 29 sugar mills in the State.
“They also sold off 21 of them at throwaway prices. The Padrauna sugar mill, for instance, was sold for a mere Rs 2 crore, a fraction of its true value. The land alone was worth around Rs 200 crore,” he said. The BJP leader alleged that under the past Governments, there existed a ‘constable syndicate’ which controlled all recruitment.
“Today, I can say that jobs are available and selections are made without undue influence; whether it is recruitment for the UP Police, the teaching profession, or positions like sub-divisional magistrate or deputy SP,” he said.
Adityanath said that encephalitis had once become the destiny of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, killing thousands of children, yet those in power then remained impervious to its havoc.
He blamed the widespread joblessness in the state on the “Saifai syndicate” in the state.
Saifai is where the former chief ministers Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son, Akhilesh Yadav, hail from.
“The SP not only looted government jobs but also created an identity crisis for young people, putting their education, employment, business, prosperity, and future under question,” he said.
“Our government is committed to ensuring development in an atmosphere of security and delivering the benefits of schemes to people without discrimination,” he said.
After the double-engine government came to power, encephalitis was eliminated from Eastern Uttar Pradesh, medical colleges have been established in every district, and Gorakhpur has got its own AIIMS, the chief minister said.
Adityanath said that Ramgarh Tal has become the “biggest and finest” tourism centre.
“Ten years ago, it was known as a deserted place filled with filth and mosquitoes. Criminals used to dump dead bodies here after committing murders. Today, thousands of families enjoy visiting the area till late at night. Films are being shot here, and thousands of people are earning their livelihood from it,” he said.
