Rahul renews attack on CEC, alleges 200 Govt officials in touch with Opposition

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi made a series of sensational claims at a Press conference in the national Capital on Monday, reiterating his demand that CEC Gyanesh Kumar resign.
From claiming that 200 Government officials were in touch with the Opposition group, the Congress MP sharpened his attack on the Centre. Before the march, Rahul asked Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign and become an approver, claiming he is not the “main vote-theft criminal”.
He added that they are after the people behind Kumar’s actions and that the Opposition might even forgive him. Rahul said the protests against Kumar will continue and the deployment of heavy security forces and crackdown on protesters proves how the Government is trying to protect him.
“Resign, turn approver; you (Kumar) have made a mistake, but you are not the mind behind the mistake. We know Gyanesh Kumar can’t sleep at night; I am telling him directly, you will not survive as CEC,” he said.
Noting earlier resistance that had not spilt over into street protests, the former Congress president said this fight will not stop and will continue even if it takes days or years.
Asserting that the Constitution is their religion, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha said: “till the time the Constitution is upheld, the Election Commission does not go, and the election system is not revamped, the youth of the country are not going to stop.”
“Five criminals will face justice. Five criminals have attacked the idea of India and attacked its soul. We will not budge or stop, no matter how much time it takes,” he said. The opposition has been demanding the CEC’s resignation after a report by The Indian Express said Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi objected on record at least 14 times over the last 10 months, mostly to decisions and orders related to the SIR of electoral rolls.
