Punjab Guv urges youth to contribute to nation building
Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria on Saturday urged the youth to pursue excellence with integrity, remain committed to education and public service, and contribute to nation-building.
Addressing a felicitation ceremony for successful civil services candidates organised by Sankalp IAS at Punjab Lok Bhavan, Kataria said every honest effort, irrespective of the profession, strengthens the nation and helps realise the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
He praised Sankalp IAS for mentoring civil services aspirants and said the institution has emerged as one of the country’s leading centres for producing successful IAS, IPS and other civil services officers.
He appreciated the organisation’s management, mentors, donors and students for their contribution through quality education and guidance.
Highlighting Chandigarh’s achievements in school education, Kataria said government schools in the city have consistently delivered strong academic results.
He noted that Chandigarh ranked first among all states and Union Territories in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2.0 for school education and is the only State/UT to receive the “Uttam-3” grade.
The governor also urged the youth to stay away from drugs and focus on education, character building, and public service, asserting that a drug-free and empowered youth is essential for achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047. Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna appreciated the governor’s campaign against drug abuse and said public office is a responsibility to serve society with honesty and dedication.
He highlighted the importance of Education and Social Responsibility (ESR) and called for support for humanitarian initiatives, including donations of life-saving medical devices for those in need.
Sankalp IAS Chairman Charanjit Rai announced a new initiative to identify, mentor and guide transgender youth preparing for civil services and other competitive examinations.
The programme aims to provide academic support, mentorship and career guidance while promoting inclusive education and equal opportunities.
