Pune Murder Case: CCTV clues, failed plots exposed alleged conspiracy behind Ketan Agarwal’s death

What was initially believed to be a tragic trekking accident at Maharashtra's Lohagad Fort has now emerged as a chilling murder case, with Pune Rural Police alleging that real estate businessman Ketan Agarwal was killed as part of a pre-planned conspiracy involving his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged partner, Chetan Chaudhary.
Investigators said several clues helped unravel the case, including CCTV footage showing a man wearing a hoodie despite the June heat trailing Agarwal and Goyal during their visit to the fort. Police also found inconsistencies in Goyal's statements, prompting a deeper probe into the circumstances surrounding the 26-year-old's death.
According to the investigation, the accused allegedly made multiple unsuccessful attempts to kill Agarwal before the fatal incident on June 18. Police claim one earlier attempt involved pushing him under the pretext of protecting him from a snake, while other plans reportedly failed due to unforeseen circumstances.
The case took a dramatic turn after investigators uncovered evidence of an alleged relationship between Goyal and Chaudhary. Police believe the duo viewed Agarwal as an obstacle and conspired to eliminate him ahead of his planned wedding later this year. A cancelled Bali trip, a missing passport, and other suspicious developments are also being examined as part of the probe.
Agarwal's death was initially recorded as an accidental fall after he plunged into a gorge at Lohagad Fort. However, persistent doubts raised by his family led police to re-examine the case, resulting in the arrest of Goyal and Chaudhary on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy.
