President Murmu hails Modi on becoming longest-serving PM

President Droupadi Murmu has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on marking the milestone of serving as India’s longest continuously elected PM and said that during this period, the country has witnessed significant transformations across all facets of national life.
In a letter to the PM, Murmu said that, be it the welfare of the poor, healthcare for all, empowering farmers, protecting the interests of the middle and neo-middle classes, “your all-inclusive vision and actions have transformed millions of lives.”
“I was deeply touched by your compassion for the marginalised sections of our society and your commitment to the ideal of Antyodaya — upliftment of the person at the very end of the line. It reflected not merely a policy intervention, but a profound sensitivity towards some of the most vulnerable citizens of Bharat,” Murmu said.
The President said that the regions that had long remained outside the principal arc of India’s development story have received special attention and care under Modi’s leadership.
This is especially true about the eastern and north-eastern parts of India, which had lagged behind in terms of development indicators, she said.
Such efforts reflect the spirit of people-centric and people-powered governance, which seeks to ensure that the fruits of development reach the last person and that no region, community or citizen is left behind, Murmu said.
“Your own journey from humble beginnings to becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, continuously serving the people, also reaffirms one of the most inspiring features of Indian democracy. It demonstrates that in our Republic, public life remains open to all those who dedicate themselves to service, commitment and hard work for the betterment of the nation,” she said in a letter dated June 9.
“You have led the country with the spirit of Nation First and have achieved the unique blend of tradition and development. Now India occupies its rightful place of importance in the global community,” read Murmu’s letter to Modi.
Asserting that history records the years spent in office, the president said that the people remember how those years touched their lives, expanded their opportunities and strengthened their faith in the future.
“The true measure of public service ultimately resides in the lives transformed, and the hopes realised. I am confident that your unwavering commitment to the ideals of service and seva, inclusion and national development will steer India towards the fulfilment of its aspirations,” Murmu said.
Describing Prime Minister Modi as a leader who has rekindled confidence in the nation’s capabilities and aspirations through visionary leadership, tireless service, and unwavering commitment to the ideal of “Rashtra Pratham”, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan said he has emerged as a true “Yug Purush” of contemporary Bharat.
Extending congratulations to the Prime Minister, Radhakrishnan, in a social media message, described Modi’s continuous tenure as a historic milestone that reflects a transformative era in Bharat’s development journey under the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership.
He noted that Bharat has witnessed remarkable progress across every sphere, including economic growth, infrastructure expansion, social empowerment and technological advancement. He further observed that India’s enhanced global stature and renewed civilizational confidence have emerged as defining features of this period.
Highlighting the Prime Minister’s commitment to inclusive development, the Vice President stated that more than 25 crore people have been lifted out of absolute poverty, bringing hope, opportunity and dignity to millions of families.
The Vice-President also lauded the Prime Minister’s efforts to preserve and promote Bharat’s rich cultural and civilizational heritage.
Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s invocation of the Tamil phrase “Yaadhum Oore, Yaavarum Kelir” (“Every place is our home; everyone is our kin”) at the United Nations, Radhakrishnan said it eloquently reaffirmed Bharat’s timeless ethos of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam ” and its enduring message of universal brotherhood and human unity.
The Vice-President further highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the Prime Minister to reinforce India’s civilizational unity and cultural legacy, including the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam, installation of the sacred Sengol in the new Parliament building, his visit to Gangaikonda Cholapuram to honour the legacy of the Cholas, and the repatriation of invaluable artefacts and antiquities from abroad.
As the nation marches towards the goal of “Viksit Bharat @ 2047”, the Vice-President said the Prime Minister’s leadership continues to serve as a source of inspiration for millions and a guiding force in the country’s onward journey.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been about restoring India’s pride, cultural renaissance and freeing the nation from the mentality of servitude.
Congratulating the prime minister on achieving the “historic milestone” of serving the people as the longest-serving elected prime minister of the country, Shah said the “new India is confidently establishing its identity on every global platform, and the world is witnessing the rise of a capable, powerful, and new India.”
Listing out major achievements on social media in Hindi, Shah said the new Parliament was constructed, three new laws were implemented, the new education policy paved the way for medical and engineering education in mother tongues, and Atmanirbhar Bharat became the resolve of every Indian.
“In these 12 years, on one hand, the country’s borders were secured, Article 370 was abrogated from Kashmir, the Ram Temple was built, Naxalism was eradicated, and terrorism was reined in with a befitting response to every terror incident; on the other hand, the collective strength of the nation learned to take pride in its heritage, culture, and capabilities by emerging from feelings of inferiority,” he said.
Shah said ensuring the safety of the citizens and restoring their lost self-respect and honour is Prime Minister Modi’s greatest achievement.
