Power Grid shares drop 4% after Quarter 1 earnings

Shares of State-owned Power Grid Corporation of India dropped 4 per cent on Thursday after it reported a slight year-on-year dip in consolidated net profit at Rs 3,598.42 crore in the June quarter.
The stock declined 3.99 per cent to settle at Rs 270.75 on the BSE. During the day, it dropped 4.39 per cent to Rs 269.60. At the NSE, the stock edged lower by 3.90 per cent to end at Rs 270.75. The company’s market valuation eroded by Rs 10,463.17 crore to Rs 2,51,813.85 crore. The stock was the biggest laggard among the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty indices.
The consolidated net profit was at Rs 3,630.58 crore in the quarter ended on June 30, 2025, the company said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday. The company’s total income, however, rose to Rs 11,696.72 crore in the quarter from Rs 11,444.42 crore in the same period a year ago.
In the April-June quarter, the company incurred a capital expenditure of Rs 7,765 crore and capitalised assets worth Rs 5,277 crore (excluding FERV and including assets capitalised as finance lease) on a consolidated basis during Q1FY27.
