Police SI arrested for assaulting, threatening woman in Lucknow

A police sub-inspector has been arrested here following a complaint lodged by a woman that he allegedly assaulted and threatened her, police said in a statement.
According to the police, the sub-inspector was arrested on Sunday.
The police said that on August 1, the complainant submitted a written application at the Ashiana police station, levelling serious allegations against Sub-Inspector (SI) Dharmveer Shahi, who was investigating a case previously registered.
The complainant alleged that during the investigation of the said case, Shahi engaged in obscene conversations with her, established physical relations under the pretext of marriage, subsequently assaulted her and threatened to kill her.
The complainant further alleged that on July 30, Shahi and two unidentified associates assaulted her. She also alleged that her mobile phone was snatched during this incident.
Additionally, the complainant said that she was threatened that she would be implicated in a false case and her private content stored on the mobile phone would be leaked.
Based on the complaint lodged, a case in this connection was registered at the Ashiana police station under sections 64(2) (being a police officer, commits rape), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 304(2) (snatching), the police said, and the SI was detained for questioning.
SHO of Ashiana Gajendra Kumar Ray on Monday said that Shahi was arrested on Sunday.
