Police officer stabbed multiple times by drunk man in Jharkhand's Sahibganj

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was injured after being repeatedly stabbed by an allegedly drunk man while responding to a distress call in Jharkhand's Sahibganj district, police said on August 5.
The accused, identified as 35-year-old Dilshad Ansari, was arrested, SP Amit Kumar Singh said.
"Police control room received information on Tuesday night that an intoxicated man armed with a knife was threatening and attacking passersby in the Kotalpokhar police station area," he said.
"A police team rushed to the spot and attempted to restrain the man. During the operation, the accused allegedly attacked ASI Hemant Yadav with the knife, stabbing him multiple times," he added.
The injured officer was first taken to the Sahibganj Sadar Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital for advanced treatment, police said.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway, they said.
