PM Modi meets Indian diaspora in Seychelles

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met members of the Indian diaspora in Seychelles during his official visit, describing the community as a vital link between India and the island nation while appreciating their contribution to strengthening bilateral ties.

Addressing members of the Indian community, Modi praised their achievements across different sectors and acknowledged their role in enhancing the friendship between India and Seychelles. He said the diaspora has served as a bridge connecting the people of both countries through cultural, economic and social engagement.

The Prime Minister highlighted India's growing global stature and reaffirmed the government's commitment to engaging with Indians living overseas. He said the Indian diaspora continues to play an important role in promoting India's culture, values and development story across the world.

Members of the diaspora welcomed the Prime Minister with a warm reception, celebrating his visit with cultural performances and interactions. Many community members expressed pride in India's rising global influence and appreciated the government's continued outreach to overseas Indians.

During his visit, Modi also held discussions with the leadership of Seychelles aimed at deepening cooperation in areas including maritime security, trade, development partnership, healthcare, capacity building and the blue economy. The visit is expected to further strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two countries.

India and Seychelles share close strategic and historical ties, particularly in the Indian Ocean region, with cooperation spanning defence, infrastructure, renewable energy, education and people-to-people exchanges.

The Prime Minister's engagement with the diaspora formed a key part of his Seychelles visit, reaffirming India's commitment to maintaining strong connections with overseas Indians while advancing bilateral partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region.
