PM announces fast-track courts in paper leak cases

CJP, Congress renew demands of accountability and the resignation of education minister Dharmendra Pradhan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday assured protesting students that the Government will set up fast-track courts to ensure stringent punishment to those involved in paper leak cases. The PM’s outreach came three days after thousands of students led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) attempted to march to the Parliament demanding resignation of the Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, for the NEET-UG exam leak. 

“Nothing is more important than the welfare and future of our youth! We have decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks. Have directed the concerned authorities and officials to take all necessary steps in this regard. This continues our series of steps for safeguarding the interests of students. Those who try to harm the future of our youth will not be spared,” the PM said in a post on X.

PM Modi’s first public message on the NEET paper leaks came on Tuesday, when he spoke about the issue at a meeting of the NDA Parliamentary Party, calling it a ghor paap (grave sin). He also highlighted how the Government moved in swiftly to arrest those involved in the leak. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju briefed the media on what the PM said at that meeting.

Education Ministry Reshuffled

New Delhi: Amid a political uproar over the alleged NEET paper leak, the Union Government on Thursday reshuffled key officials in the Ministry of Education. Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi was transferred to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. He also held charge of the school education and was the acting chairperson of the UGC. Naresh Kumar Gangwar has been appointed as the new higher education secretary, while T K Anil Kumar will take charge as school education secretary.
