Assam Rifles patrol comes under fire

A 42-year-old Assam Rifles jawan was killed and four others injured after their patrol team came under suspected militant fire along the India-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on Tuesday, officials said. The attack took place around 6.30 am near Nampong Nallah, under Nampong circle, as personnel of the 21 Assam Rifles were patrolling an area where border fencing work is underway. Havildar Jankhokai Kuki was killed in the firing, while four injured personnel were evacuated for medical treatment. Their condition was not immediately known. Security forces have intensified operations in the area following the incident.

Four killed in CISF firing incident

Four CISF personnel, including an assistant commandant, were killed after a colleague allegedly opened fire at a hydroelectric power project in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Tuesday evening, officials said. The incident occurred around 7.30 pm at the Sewa-III hydroelectric power project in Mashka village, Basohli, near the Himachal Pradesh border. Preliminary information suggested that CISF Head Constable Abhidesh Kumar allegedly opened fire with his service rifle following an argument with colleagues. Four personnel suffered critical injuries and later succumbed to their injuries at a nearby NHPC hospital. The deceased were identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub-Inspector Lakshman Singh and constables Rafiq Ahmed and Sandeep Kumar.
