Parivartan 2.0 in Bengal soon after Delhi crumbles: Mamata
Delhi was crumbling and will soon fall, triggering in turn a wave and a second Parivartan (change) in Bengal for which the Trinamool Congress workers should remain prepared so that they can lap up the opportunity, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee on Friday said, launching a scathing attack on the BJP
“Delhi will soon crumble”, and Bengal would follow suit, she thundered from a Trinamool Congress Chatra Parishad foundation day rally.
Alleging that Bengal would not have gone into the hands of the saffron outfit had the BJP led Centre not manipulated the Election Commission of India to its advantage the former State Chief Minister told a TMC rally, “already hundred days of this Government has passed and they have incurred enough unpopularity … they are not going to stay in power for long … because they have hurt the people … the TMC will have to remain prepared for that time … we will definitely revive and bounce back with huge force.”
The TMC supremo’s diatribe came a day after the Kolkata Police arrested 13 TMC workers and lodged FIRs against Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O’ Brien hours following Thursday’s ruckus at Abhishek’s party office when the TMC MPs and party men allegedly tried to prevent police personnel from pulling down some “illegal” hoardings in the office area.
Launching a no-holds-barred attack on the saffron outfit she said “BJP captured the power by theft… they used the ECI and looted votes through the SIR… they used the Commission and a monstrous police force to hijack the last Assembly elections… but don’t worry… be on the streets and carry on your resistance… a second Parivartan is coming in Bengal… let Delhi fall and it will fall soon”.
In an apparent reference to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s statement, the TMC chief said: “They have said that they will not allow me to come out of my house … let me see how much strength they have … there is a thing called God … you cannot control everything by muscle power … I am sure justice will be done.”
In reference to Banerjee’s statement that she would not retire from politics and would live on till she saw the end of the BJP, Adhikari had a few days ago advised her to remain indoors and watch reels. “I will ensure that you remain indoors … you have harmed Bengal so much that you do not deserve to venture out of your house,” he said.
On repeated law suits seeking court permission to hold rallies she said, “in our days we did not prevent the opposition parties to hold rallies … why shall we have to run to the court every time … from now on we will seek no police permission … if they do not give us permission to hold meetings then I will personally walk on the streets, meet the people … I will see how you can stop me.”
Banerjee’s attack came in tandem with senior party leader and MP Kalyan Banerjee’s warning to the breakaway TMC MPs even as he said, “I will ensure that the Lok Sabha membership of all the traitor MPs are disqualified … not only this they will also not be taken back into the TMC … this is my pledge.”
Party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee too said that though all decisions rested with Mamata Banerjee, he would personally not endorse the return of the deserting party MPs.
