Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to march on Islamabad on Sept. 27 if Imran Khan not given justice, says KP CM

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters will march towards Islamabad on Sept. 27 if "justice" is not delivered to jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Suhail Afridi said on Wednesday, Aug 6th.

Addressing a rally in Peshawar on the eve of Khan completing three years in prison, Afridi said the party wanted courts to hear and decide the cases against Khan and his wife on merit and restore their access to lawyers, doctors, relatives and party leaders.

He said the PTI would continue its campaign through constitutional and democratic means, including peaceful protests, but warned that supporters from across Pakistan would march to Islamabad if its demands remained unmet.

Afridi claimed Khan could be released "within 30 minutes" if justice was delivered and alleged the former prime minister had been kept in solitary confinement while his family faced restrictions on meeting him.

He also alleged that recent constitutional amendments had weakened the judiciary and accused the federal government of undermining judicial independence.

Reiterating the PTI's position that Khan was removed from office through an "external conspiracy" supported by "internal collaborators", Afridi blamed the change in government in 2022 for Pakistan's economic difficulties and deteriorating security situation.

He said the party had exhausted all legal avenues and would exercise its constitutional right to peaceful protest if its demands were not addressed.

Afridi said he would lead the planned march to Islamabad on Sept. 27.
