Owaisi attacks Rajasthan Govt over civic amenities, infrastructure

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday attacked the Rajasthan government over the condition of Jaipur’s Walled City, alleging poor sanitation, roads, sewerage and basic civic amenities.

Owaisi said he saw garbage, broken roads and potholes while entering the old city, which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Citing CAG reports, he alleged that only 11 to 25 per cent of urban waste in Rajasthan was being processed and questioned the utilisation of unspent municipal funds.

He also raised concerns over the condition of government schools, claiming that thousands of school buildings and classrooms required reconstruction or major repairs. Referring to a recent school wall collapse in Ajmer, he asked who was responsible for children’s safety. Owaisi also criticised the state government over women’s safety and healthcare, citing official figures on rape cases and alleged deficiencies in government hospitals.

Questioning the government’s investment claims, he sought details of projects that had actually become operational and the number of jobs created, saying MoUs should not be equated with actual investment.

He also questioned the utilisation of Rs 100 crore announced for development and conservation of Jaipur’s Walled City.

“The people of Jaipur are not demanding luxuries. They need roads, proper sewerage, drainage and sanitation,” Owaisi said.
