No FIR yet in Delhi over minor's alleged abusive remarks against PM during Jantar Mantar protest

A Zero FIR registered by the Noida Police over a minor girl's alleged abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Cockroach Janta Party's protest has not yet been converted into a regular FIR in Delhi. No separate case has been registered in the national capital in the matter so far, police sources said on Monday, August 3.

PTI citing sources said the Zero FIR, forwarded by the Noida Police to Delhi Police last week, is still under examination and a decision on whether to register a regular FIR is yet to be taken.

The clarification comes amid social media claims that Delhi Police had withdrawn the FIR against the minor girl for using abusive language against the Prime Minister during the Cockroach Janta Party protest at Jantar Mantar.The minor was among the many on social media who had used derogatory language as a mark of protest.

The issue drew attention after the Prime Minister himself said he had forgiven the students who allegedly abused him and his mother. He said young people should be guided in the right direction rather than being punished,

"There is no regular FIR in Delhi at this stage. The question of withdrawing any FIR does not arise because no such FIR has been registered here," a police source said.

The police sources also said that no separate FIR has been registered in Delhi against any minor in connection with the alleged remarks made during the protest.
