NIA Court issues non-bailable warrant against Hafiz Saeed in Pahalgam terror attack case

A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Jammu has issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed in connection with the investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack.

The warrant was issued after the NIA named Saeed in a supplementary chargesheet, alleging his role in planning and directing the attack that claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them tourists, in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the NIA, Saeed has been charged both in his individual capacity and as the chief of the banned LeT and its proxy outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF). The agency told the court that Saeed is deliberately evading arrest and that his custodial interrogation is necessary for a fair and complete investigation. Acting on the agency's request, the court issued an open-dated non-bailable warrant to facilitate further legal proceedings.

The charges have been filed under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The latest court order is part of the NIA's ongoing efforts to investigate the Pahalgam attack and identify those allegedly responsible for orchestrating the incident.
