NIA chargesheets 10 in Red Fort car bomb blast case
NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency has filed a 7,500-page chargesheet against 10 accused in the November 2025 car bomb explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort.
The chargesheet was filed before a special NIA court at Patiala House on May 14, according to the agency. The blast on November 10, 2025, killed 11 people, injured several others and damaged nearby property.
The accused include alleged main perpetrator Dr Umer Un Nabi, who died in the explosion. The others named are Aamir Rashid Mir, Jasir Bilal Wani, Dr Muzamil Shakeel, Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather, Dr Shaheen Saeed, Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay, Soyab, Dr Bilal Naseer Malla and Yasir Ahmad Dar.
The NIA alleged that all 10 were linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, an offshoot of Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent. The chargesheet contains 588 witness testimonies, more than 395 documents and over 200 seized exhibits.
Investigators alleged that some of the accused were medical professionals radicalised by the group’s ideology. The agency said they manufactured explosives using commercially available chemicals and tested different improvised explosive devices.
The explosive used in the Red Fort attack was identified as triacetone triperoxide, or TATP, according to the NIA. Investigators also alleged that the group experimented with rocket and drone-mounted explosives to target security establishments.
Media reported that Jasir Bilal Wani allegedly used ChatGPT and YouTube while researching rocket construction and explosive mixtures. The report said investigators recovered remnants of experimental devices from forests in Jammu and Kashmir.
The agency said 11 people have been arrested in the case. Its investigation into other suspects and alleged absconders is continuing.
