NDMC opens Rs 1 crore community toilet at Jodhpur Mess

Residents of Pandara Road and surrounding areas got a new community toilet facility on Thursday, with Delhi Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh inaugurating NDMC’s largest such facility at Jodhpur Mess under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. The minister called cleanliness not merely an amenity but a basic civic right of every citizen.
Built at a cost of approximately `1 crore, the facility was developed with NBCC’s CSR funds on land provided by NDMC. It includes separate facilities for men and women, CCTV cameras, and provisions for cleanliness, hygiene, safety and security.
Singh said another commitment made to area residents had now been fulfilled, and reaffirmed NDMC’s commitment to ensuring clean, safe and improved civic amenities for Delhi’s people.
The toilet’s inauguration came as part of a broader day of cleanliness activity across the NDMC area under the nationwide “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” initiative, part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign. Union Ministers, senior Government officials, students, traders, residents and Safai Sevaks participated in Shramdaan drives at schools, markets, residential areas and institutional complexes across the area.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju joined Shramdaan at Navyug School, Peshwa Road, near Gole Market, alongside NDMC Chairman Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, with students and teachers also planting saplings as part of the activity. Rijiju said cleanliness is a shared responsibility that begins with every citizen, and called on youth to make civic sense and environmental responsibility part of everyday life.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy participated in Shramdaan at Yashwant Place, Chanakyapuri, with Coal Ministry Secretary Keshav Chandra, along with local traders and residents. Reddy interacted with and felicitated NDMC Safai Sevaks for their daily contribution to maintaining cleanliness.

In a targeted cleanliness drive, NDMC’s Health Department, with Delhi Police and CRPF, organised an effort at the National Police Memorial on Pt Uma Shankar Dixit Marg, Chanakyapuri, where around 120 participants removed approximately 300 kg of waste and silt from the area.
