Naidu, Shivraj Singh Chauhan lay foundation for 3 lakh welfare houses in Andhra

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Sunday laid the foundation for three lakh welfare houses across the state, with a pilot project using 3D printing technology launched alongside the programme.
The foundation was laid at Burripalem village in Guntur district, where Naidu and Chauhan joined a beneficiary family in starting construction of a house using three-dimensional printing technology, described by the state government as a first in the country.
“Chief Minister Chandrababu joined Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan in laying the foundation for the construction of three lakh houses across the state,” an official press release said.
Chauhan assured the beneficiary family that a strong house would be constructed at the lowest possible cost and at the earliest.
Naidu said the new technology would be used to ensure that the house remained as cool as possible.
The two leaders also launched a pilot project under which 117 houses will be constructed using 3D concrete printing technology in Burripalem and Obulanaidupalem villages at a cost of Rs 14 crore.
Officials told the leaders that each house could be constructed in about 10 days using the technology. The pilot project is expected to be completed within six months.
The technology is expected to accelerate construction, reduce dependence on labour and minimise construction waste while maintaining standards of quality and durability, the release said.
The state government's larger housing programme will cover three lakh welfare houses across Andhra Pradesh, with the foundation-laying marking the beginning of construction under the initiative.
