Nabin holds key meet to map BJP’s poll strategy

BJP president Nitin Nabin on Sunday held an intensive meeting with the party office-bearers to discuss a range of organisational matters, especially the strategy for high-stakes Assembly polls due in seven States next year, including Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.

According to sources, the meeting at the BJP headquarters was attended by senior party functionaries, State unit presidents and State in-charges. BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh was also present at the meeting. There was no official word from the BJP on what transpired in the meeting.

Assembly polls are due in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat in 2027. The BJP is in power in five of these poll-bound States, except Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. While the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) currently rules Punjab, the Congress is in power in Himachal Pradesh.

“It was a crucial meeting to discuss a range of organisational matters with prime focus on the party’s preparations and strategy for the upcoming elections in States next year,” party sources said.

During the meeting on Sunday, Nabin also reviewed the status of various programmes currently being conducted by the party and discussed measures to ensure their effective implementation and wider outreach. The discussions were part of the BJP’s broader organisational strategy to strengthen its grassroots presence, expand membership base and intensify public outreach ahead of Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur in early 2027.

This comes a day after Nabin held his first meeting with all newly appointed national office bearers of the party.

After the day-long meeting concluded on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited the BJP headquarters and interacted with all 67 newly appointed national office bearers of the party. The prime minister’s meeting lasted for more than five hours.
