Mumbai Local Train Update: Western Railway announces 5-Hour block at Dadar Station, check details

Western Railway has announced a major five-hour maintenance block at Mumbai’s Dadar station, which is expected to affect thousands of late-night and early-morning commuters.
According to officials, the block will be in effect from Friday midnight to 5 am Saturday and has been planned to carry out urgent engineering and track maintenance work to ensure long-term passenger safety.
During this period, both Up and Down local train lines will be affected, with services between Mumbai Central and Mahim being diverted to fast lines. However, several trains are likely to be cancelled or delayed due to the maintenance work.
Four key stations—Mahalaxmi, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, and Matunga Road—will see no train halts during the block period.
Officials from Western Railway’s Mumbai Central Division said the maintenance is essential for improving track reliability and ensuring safer operations on the busy suburban network.
“Passengers are requested to plan their journey accordingly,” the railway administration said, adding that the inconvenience is regretted.
The Mumbai local train network, which serves millions of commuters daily, is expected to face temporary disruption, particularly impacting night-shift workers, hospital staff, and early morning travellers.
Railway authorities have advised passengers to check schedules in advance, consider alternate routes, and follow official updates before travelling.
Despite short-term inconvenience, officials said such maintenance blocks are necessary to prevent larger disruptions and ensure smoother operations in the future.
