Mauritius President honours VIT vice-president Viswanathan

Dr Sekar Viswanathan, vice-president of VIT, received the prestigious Crown Jewel of World Tamils award (‘Ulaga Thamizhar Maamani’) in recognition of his exemplary contributions to higher education at the World Tamil Economic Conference held in Mauritius.
The 13th edition of the Global Tamils Economic Conference and Global Economic Summit took place in Mauritius from September 11 to 13. The event brought together over 200 participants, including heads of State, Government ministers, economic experts, and investors from more than 20 countries. Discussions at the conference focused on international investments, new business connections, artificial intelligence, financial services, higher education, healthcare, start-ups, and global trade.
VIT Chancellor Dr G. Viswanathan, Minister for School Education Rajmohan, and VRS Sampath, president of the Madras Development Society and president of the World Tamils Economic Foundation, were among the dignitaries who attended the event.
Mauritius President Dharambeer Gokhool presided over the ceremony and presented the awards. Sekar Viswanathan, alongside other prominent Tamils from various fields across the world, was honoured with the Crown Jewel of World Tamils ‘Ulaga Thamizhar Maamani’ award.
