Massive public participation marks Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan in Kamrup district

Kamrup District witnessed extensive public participation during the Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan conducted under the ongoing Jan Jatiya Garima Utsav 2026, with nearly 4,000 citizens taking part in Jan Sunwai programmes, health camps and awareness activities across remote and rural areas of the district.
The week-long campaign, organised from May 18 to 25, was conducted across all four Development Blocks of the district and covered 64 villages through 34 Adi Sewa Kendras. The outreach initiative engaged a wide section of the population, including women, youth, senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Officials said the campaign was aimed at bringing Government services closer to people through coordinated efforts involving multiple departments, frontline workers, local institutions, self-help groups and community leaders.
During the Jan Sunwai programmes, residents directly interacted with Government officials and raised issues concerning welfare schemes, drinking water supply, road infrastructure, Aadhaar-related services, ration cards, healthcare facilities and livelihood support.
According to district authorities, more than 3,900 grievances and public concerns were recorded during the campaign. Several issues were resolved on the spot, while the remaining cases were forwarded to concerned departments for follow-up action within stipulated timelines.
Health camps organised alongside the public hearing programmes provided medical consultations and preventive healthcare awareness to residents in underserved areas. Information regarding various Government health schemes was also disseminated during the outreach drives.
Officials described the initiative as an important step towards strengthening grassroots governance and improving accessibility to public services in rural and remote communities of the district.
