Manoj Dwivedi takes charge as NDMC chairperson

Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, a 1997 batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, assumed charge as Chairperson of the New Delhi Municipal Council on Friday. Dwivedi succeeded Keshav Chandra, who has been appointed Secretary in the Ministry of Coal, Government of India.
Shortly after taking charge, Dwivedi held an interactive meeting with all Heads of Departments and senior officers of NDMC, taking stock of the council’s ongoing activities, key initiatives, and priority areas. He emphasised the need for coordinated efforts, efficient service delivery, and a citizen-centric approach to strengthen civic amenities and public services in the NDMC area.
Keshav Chandra had led NDMC from November 2024 to July 2026, during which the council undertook initiatives in urban governance, public infrastructure, sanitation, digital transformation, and citizen-centric service delivery.
Prior to his NDMC appointment, Dwivedi served as Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training and earlier as Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Born on July 9, 1972, Dwivedi holds a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from IIT Delhi. He is also the author of a book titled Decode Life, described as a guide to deciphering the code of life and unlocking individual potential. His administrative career spans nearly three decades, primarily in the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre.
