Sisodia questions Form 6 changes after SC says it did not approve modifications

AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Monday questioned the changes made to Form 6 by the Election Commission after the Supreme Court clarified that it had not approved any modifications to the form being used during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Sisodia said the court's clarification raised questions over the process through which the changes were made and demanded action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
"The Supreme Court has clearly said Gyanesh Kumar did not get permission to change Form 6," Sisodia said here.
He said the clarification was significant as the Election Commission had earlier stated in a press release that the changes had been ratified by the Supreme Court.
Form 6 is an application through which an eligible person seeks inclusion in the electoral roll.
The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant and comprising Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana said it had not approved any modification to Form 6.
"Any modification to Form 6 has not been approved by us," the bench said, adding that it wanted to examine the records to determine who had modified the form.
The bench was hearing a PIL filed after a recent report in The Indian Express alleged that two of the three Election Commissioners had objected to decisions related to the SIR, including changes to Form 6 concerning an applicant's ancestry and linkage to the previous SIR.
Sisodia alleged that the changes could affect the process of inclusion of names in electoral rolls and said the AAP would continue to raise the issue.
