Manipur cabinet to make recommendation to Guv for summoning Assembly session
The cabinet of Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on Tuesday decided to make a recommendation to the governor to summon a session of the state Assembly, an official statement said.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister.
The state cabinet decided September 2 as the date for making the recommendation to the governor to summon the eighth session of the 12th Manipur Assembly, it said.
The seventh assembly session was adjourned sine die on March 18 this year.
The cabinet also approved enhancements of cash incentives for Commonwealth Games medallists from the state, it said.
"For Commonwealth Games, the incentives were increased to Rs 20 lakh, Rs 15 lakh, Rs 10 lakh and Rs 4 lakh for Gold, Silver, Bronze medallists and participants, respectively," the statement said.
Four from the state won medals at the 23rd Commonwealth Games at Glasgow.
"The state cabinet gave in-principle approval for setting up a government medical college at Senapati. This proposed medical college will have an annual intake of 100 MBBS students annually. The district hospital will also be upgraded to meet the requirements of a medical college," it said.
The cabinet also approved the "formation of a government company for mobilisation and utilisation of CSR funds for promotion and development of sports in Manipur", it said.
'Manipur Sports Development Foundation' is the proposed name of the firm and it will be composed of government officials, with non-official members to be from the field of sports, finance and sports science.
Later, in a social media post, the CM said the cabinet meeting focused on key policy and administrative matters with the welfare and aspirations of the people at the centre of every decision.
"Our government remains committed to transparent, accountable and people-centric governance, translating decisions into meaningful outcomes for the people of Manipur," he added.
