Man gets 20 years in jail for kidnapping, sexually assaulting 16-year-old girl in UP

A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in 2020.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 on the convict.
Public Prosecutor Shailendri Rajput told PTI on Friday that Balram, a resident of a village under Barnahal police station, abducted the girl on July 1, 2020, and sexually assaulted her.
When the minor did not return home, her father lodged an FIR against Balram at Ghiror police station, Rajput said.
During the investigation, police recovered the girl from Balram. She subsequently told police that she had been sexually assaulted.
The girl’s medical examination also confirmed sexual assault, the prosecutor said.
On Thursday, Additional District and Sessions Judge (POCSO) Jahendra Pal Singh held Balram guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 on him.
