Maharashtra couple found dead in Delhi

A 30-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both natives of Maharashtra, were found dead inside a rented room in Delhi’s East of Kailash on Monday morning in an apparent case of suicide, police said.

The incident came to light after a PCR call was received at Amar Colony Police Station at 9.08 am reporting the suspected suicide of a man and a woman at Sant Nagar in East of Kailash.

When a police team reached the spot, they found that the door of the rented accommodation had already been forced open by one of the woman’s friends or neighbours after repeated attempts to contact the occupants failed. Inside the room, the 26-year-old woman, a Nagpur resident, was found dead on the bed, while the man, identified as Anmol Kunda Patil, 30, was found hanging from the ceiling fan with a nylon rope. Police said the Crime Team and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) examined the scene and collected evidence, police said.

A handwritten suicide note, prima facie believed to have been written by the man, was recovered and seized for forensic examination. Officials, however, did not disclose the note's contents.

Both bodies were shifted to the AIIMS mortuary for post-mortem examination, and family members of the deceased have been informed. Police said the exact cause behind the suspected suicide would be established after the post-mortem report and forensic analysis of the material recovered from the scene.

Officials added that further inquiry into the circumstances leading to the deaths is underway and all possible angles are being investigated.
