Liverpool to formalise strategic partnership with Telangana in October

Liverpool is looking to establish a strategic partnership with Telangana in areas including life sciences, technology, sports and the creative economy, the state government said on Saturday.
Corporate Directors of City Development, Liverpool, Susan Finnegan and Nuala Gallagher, along with representatives of Liverpool Football Club, met Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in London during his ongoing UK visit.
According to the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office, a Liverpool delegation is expected to travel to Hyderabad in October to formalise the proposed partnership.
Separately, former Telangana Chief Secretary and government advisor K Ramakrishna Rao visited Imperial College London and held discussions with Amanda Wolthuizen, Vice President for Strategic Engagement, and Rosanna Gillespie, Senior International Relations Manager for South Asia and Australasia.
Rao highlighted Telangana’s strengths and discussed potential areas of cooperation. Imperial College expressed interest in exploring short-term and executive education programmes in Hyderabad, along with joint research and academic exchange initiatives.
Rao also invited the institution’s representatives to attend the Invest Telangana Global Summit, scheduled to be held in Hyderabad from December 7 to 9.
The developments follow Reddy’s visit to Oxford University on August 21, where he invited the institution to introduce executive education programmes and specialised research initiatives in Hyderabad.
During his visit, Reddy met professors Maya Tudor of the Blavatnik School of Government and Faisal Devji of Balliol College. He presented his government’s ‘Telangana Rising’ vision and its plans to develop Hyderabad into a global education hub.
