Kunal Kamra's Hyderabad show moved to Secunderabad amid Bajrang Dal opposition, held under heavy police cover

Hyderabad: Kunal Kamra's stand-up show Standing Up was held at TGSRTC Kalabhavan in Secunderabad on Sunday, under tight police security, after the venue changed due to opposition to the performance.
Kunal was originally scheduled to perform two shows at 3 pm and 6 pm at Vishweshwaraya Bhavan in Khairatabad. One of the shows was later cancelled, and the programme was shifted to the TGSRTC Kalabhavan.
The Hyderabad unit of the Bajrang Dal had objected to the event, citing Kamra's alleged remarks about Hindu deities Ram and Sita. The organisation reportedly lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad police seeking to stop the show and threatened to disrupt it if it went ahead. It also warned that members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) would take part in the protest.
On the day of the show, a bus carrying around 10 to 15 people arrived at the venue. Chikkadpally police confirmed the arrival to the media but said the situation did not escalate.
The programme went ahead without any reported untoward incident. Police maintained security at the venue to prevent a possible confrontation between the event's attendees, the show and those opposing it.
