Kodagu forest techie rescued after 3 days

Missing Techie Found Alive After 3 Days in Kodagu Forest; Massive Rescue Operation Pays Off, Karnataka Govt Swings Into Action After KC Venugopal’s Intervention. In a dramatic and heartening rescue, a 36-year-old tech professional from Kerala was found alive after being stranded for three days in the dense forests of Tadiandamol Hill, the highest peak in Kodagu.
The woman, identified as Sharanya, had embarked on a solo trek on Thursday but reportedly lost her way during the climb. Though she had been assigned to a 15-member trekking group by forest authorities, she became separated, sparking concern and triggering an intensive multi-agency search operation.
The breakthrough came on Sunday evening when members of the indigenous Kudiya tribal community — renowned for their deep knowledge of the forest terrain — located her and immediately alerted authorities.
Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre confirmed that nine search teams had been deployed across the challenging terrain. The operation involved personnel from the forest department, police, Anti-Naxal Force, and local villagers working in close coordination.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had directed officials to extend full support, ensuring that all available resources were mobilized for the rescue effort.
Khandre also revealed that senior Congress leader KC Venugopal personally intervened, urging authorities to intensify the search. His involvement reportedly accelerated the response, leading to the swift deployment of additional teams and resources.
Praising Sharanya’s resilience, Khandre said her ability to survive alone in the harsh forest conditions for three days demonstrated “exceptional mental strength and determination.”
Local MLA AS Ponnanna visited Sharanya following her rescue and expressed gratitude to all agencies and local communities involved. He described the operation as a “remarkable example of coordination, commitment, and human spirit.”
Authorities said Sharanya is safe and receiving medical attention. The successful rescue has brought immense relief to her family and highlighted the critical role of local communities and coordinated governance in emergency response situations.
