Kharge, Rahul Gandhi urge PM Modi to order independent probe into Ram Mandir Trust Finances

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking an independent and comprehensive investigation into the financial affairs of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, alleging that devotees have been "betrayed" by the reported theft of temple donations.
In their joint letter, the two Congress leaders described the Prime Minister's silence over the issue as "unacceptable" and said that the alleged theft has shaken the faith of lakhs of devotees who contributed to the Ram Mandir with trust and devotion. They urged the Centre to ensure accountability and restore public confidence through an impartial inquiry.
Kharge shared the letter on social media, asserting that devotees deserved transparency regarding the management of funds donated for the construction and maintenance of the Ram Temple. The Congress leaders stressed that the matter transcends politics and concerns the faith and contributions of millions of people across the country.
The demand comes weeks after allegations of theft of donations from the Ram Temple Trust surfaced. Police registered an FIR based on a complaint by the Trust and arrested several accused in connection with the case. The investigation into the alleged embezzlement is currently underway.
Kharge and Rahul Gandhi called on the Prime Minister to order an independent probe into the Trust's financial affairs to ensure complete transparency and accountability in the handling of devotees' contributions.
