Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar chairs first Cabinet Meeting at Vidhana Soudha

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar held his first official cabinet meeting at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Thursday, marking the beginning of his administrative tenure after taking oath as the state’s new leader.
The meeting comes just hours after Shivakumar was sworn in as Chief Minister along with 13 cabinet ministers, signalling the formation of his core governing team. Senior Congress leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara and other key MLAs, were part of the newly constituted cabinet.
During the inaugural meeting, the state government is expected to prioritise key welfare and development initiatives, with early focus on student welfare, employment generation, and infrastructure development across Karnataka.
Officials indicated that the cabinet deliberations also centred on immediate governance priorities and implementation of key election promises made by the ruling party.
The first cabinet meeting is seen as a crucial step in setting the tone for Shivakumar’s leadership and outlining the policy direction of the new Karnataka government.
