Two drown, one missing after being swept away while crossing river in Jharkhand

Two persons drowned and another went missing after they were swept away while crossing the Koyna river in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, police said on Monday, August 31.

The three, residents of Bahda village, were crossing the river on Sunday while returning home when a sudden rise in the water level swept them away, they said.

Local villagers raised an alarm after witnessing the incident and launched efforts to trace the victims.

Police said two bodies have since been recovered, while a search was underway for the third person.
