Janmashtami celebrated at Akshardham temple in Delhi
The auspicious festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with profound reverence, devotion and joy at the Akshardham mandir in Delhi. A large number of devotees gathered to participate in the divine birth celebrations of Bhagwan Shri Krishna. The programme began in the evening with chanting and prayers.
Sadhus delivered inspiring discourses on the glory of surrender to God, exclusive devotion and the importance of spiritual discourses, drawing from the Gopika Geet described in the Bhagavata Purana. They explained that surrender to God is not merely an emotional expression but a spiritual practice aimed at making one’s life God-centric.
Children and youths presented devotional and cultural performances, including a dance-drama depicting the divine birth and character of Shri Krishna. Devotional music, prayers and spiritual discourses created an atmosphere of jubilation at the temple. Janmashtami was also celebrated in Paris under the auspices of BAPS (Akshardham), ahead of the consecration ceremony of France’s first traditional Hindu temple on September 6.
As part of the celebrations, ‘Le Festival de la culture’, a devotional boat procession, was held on the famous Seine River. Thousands of sadhus and devotees participated in the event, with bhajans and kirtans performed during the voyage. Women also offered devotional tributes through a kalash yatra.
Thousands of devotees visited Akshardham in Delhi to have darshan of the sacred deities on the auspicious occasion.
