Jamui assault raid uncovers 2003 double murder cold case
When police arrived at the residence in Jamui to apprehend Nandan Yadav, a suspect involved in a viral video depicting the assault of a minor girl following a roadside altercation, they inadvertently reopened a case involving a double homicide from 23 years prior. Nandan Yadav, a resident of Pratappur village, was detained after being shot in the leg while attempting to escape. He is accused of confronting two Class 10 students on a scooter near Jamui’s hilly outskirts on 19 September, during which he assaulted the boy and molested the girl.
Five individuals have been apprehended in connection with this case, and two minors have been detained.
During his interrogation, authorities discovered that his father, Ganori Yadav, was wanted in connection with a double-murder case from 2003. On 3 April 2003, brothers DP Yadav and Pune Yadav were killed in Pratappur, under the jurisdiction of the Town police station, following a dispute over contract work.
Their mother, Sansari Devi, filed an FIR naming Ganori Yadav as a suspect. Eleven individuals were accused in the case. Police reports indicate that Ganori was the only suspect who remained at large; the others were either released on bail or convicted.
He faced charges including murder, rioting, unlawful assembly, and offences under the Arms Act and had been absconding since the incident.
