Uproar in J&K Assembly as BJP seeks govt response on public issues

Chaos erupted in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Monday as opposition BJP members sought the government's response on several public issues.

The autumn session of the Assembly began in Srinagar with obituary references to three former ministers.

Soon after the references concluded, BJP MLAs raised issues including recent protests by National Health Mission (NHM) employees, regularisation of daily wagers, and the supply of water and electricity.

The BJP members raised slogans and stood up holding placards as they sought to draw the government's attention to the issues.

Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather, however, directed that the BJP's demonstration not be recorded and proceeded with the legislative business.
