Jabalpur Boat Tragedy: Pilot, Staff Sacked After 9 Killed in Bargi Dam Accident

The Madhya Pradesh government has taken strict action following the tragic boat accident in Jabalpur, sacking key staff members after nine people lost their lives in the incident.
According to officials, the services of cruise pilot Mahesh Patel, helper Chhotelal Gond, and ticket counter in-charge Brijendra have been terminated over alleged negligence. Authorities stated that the action was taken to ensure accountability in the aftermath of the हादसा.
Additionally, Sunil Maravi, manager of Hotel Maikal Resort and Boat Club Bargi, has been suspended, while regional manager Sanjay Malhotra has been transferred to the Tourism Department headquarters in Bhopal. A departmental inquiry has also been initiated to determine lapses leading to the accident.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening when a cruise boat overturned during a sudden storm in the Bargi Dam on the Narmada River in Jabalpur district. Nine people died in the हादसा, while 28 others were successfully rescued.
Officials said the government is reviewing safety protocols and operational procedures to prevent such incidents in the future. Rescue and relief efforts were carried out promptly, but the tragedy has raised serious concerns about safety compliance in tourist boat operations.
